Chris, George and everyone at Munk’s:

I want to thank all of you for the extra special service I received this year. Although my car, a 2011 Porsche Cayman S, is nearly new and under warranty, there were a number of things you did that were above and beyond anything my dealer could, or would, do.

The most important success you had was diagnosing my faulty wheel bearing. My car was making a very disturbing noise, but only intermittently. The tech at the dealer heard the noise but all he could say was “they are not supposed to make noises like that!.” But, you were able to diagnose the problem with recording devices strategically placed on the car. This is the sort of extra effort the dealers can’t be bothered with. I take my car to the track frequently and that faulty wheel bearing could easily have resulted in a catastrophic failure with consequences too dire to think about.

Beyond the wheel bearing, you also worked with me to solve the problem of my brakes overheating and fading. You independently researched potential approaches used by others with similar problems and after implementing several of your ideas including air ducting, heat shields and higher temperature pads, my brakes ended the season working great, with excellent pedal feel, no fade, great pad life and very little dust! And all of this work at a very reasonable cost.

I have to mention the suspension alignment as well. Many people who track Caymans give up on the suspension and modify the car to get more negative camber. I may do the same some day, but for now the alignment you did really maximized my cars potential within a stock setting. In fact, I carry the post alignment specs with me to track events so I can show others what you were able to do. Since the alignment, my tire wear is noticeably better, the handling is even better than it was and my lap times are faster. That’s at least a triple!

Always, throughout the year when I called with my urgent need for service you were able to find a way to accommodate my schedule. You kept me informed, even calling after hours, and everyone at Munk’s treated me in the courteous and knowledgeable manner that is Munk’s trademark.
