Porsche recalls 911's More than 2,900
of company's 911 Carreras may have
faulty fuel software
April 14, 2000
ATLANTA (Reuters) - Porsche Cars
of North America on Friday said it was
recalling more than 2,900 1999 and 2000 Porsche 911 Carrera 4
models to
update the software in the instrument cluster that determines
fuel quantity.
The recall involves 2,734 vehicles in the United States and 177
in Canada.
The layout and particular shape of the Carrera 4 fuel tank does
not allow
direct measurement of the fuel level over the entire measuring
range, the
company said. If unfavorable electrical tolerances coincide in
the electronic
logic unit, it is possible that the fuel level and range of remaining
fuel may
be displayed incorrectly.
